@Vincent: I think that twittermeter still is far away from a business model. And it is not Twitter itself doing it, but someone different.

So it might be a sort of "showcase" of a webdesigner instead of a serious market research tool. A searchengine for Twitter seems to be terraminds...

Thanks for the link, Matthias. But I do wonder if there is a business-model behind the site… and if it beats tools like Google-trends to see what's current.

@Vincent: Thank's a lot for your insightful comment. I know that I lag behind with postings on Tech IT Easy...

Concerning Twitter: I just saw the twittermeter - a first step into what I thought would be good to do.

Matthias, I'm still waiting for a good write-up (from you) on what semantic technology actually is on tech it easy.

There is no resistance to market-research on my part or anyone, I think, that commented on your twitter-piece. What there is a resistance to, and Facebook's social ad efforts have somewhat proven that, is the exploitation of people's privacy for commercial use.

As far as the comparison to technorati goes, I think those two businesses are really quite different, with different dynamics, competitors, and possible business-models. A big revenue stream for search is adwords, as such it's not that surprising that technorati is taking this path. Whether they will succeed is another question. Its competitors IP in advertising is fairly strong and technorati is already being pushed from all sides. What it does have going for it, is its strong focus on tags, which I see as a strong basis for building relevant adverts, and its longstanding relationship with blogs, though Google blog-search et. al are strong in this field too.

Just my 0.0002 cents.
